Standard Channel Logic

'Channels' refers to inbound marketing channels which help quantify the marketing contribution to pipeline and revenue.

Overview

Reports currently utilizing channels: Channel Cohorts, Channel Contribution to Revenue, Channel Detail, Opportunity Detail

Some questions these reports help answer: 

  • What inbound channels are performing and where should we continue to invest? 
  • How has that performance changed over time?
  • What was the performance of a specific event?

Individual Channel Logic

  1. Email 

Will show up as Email channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • UTM Medium contains ‘Email’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Email’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Email’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Nurture’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Nurture’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Nurture’
  • UTM Source is any of the following: Marketo, Hubspot, Eloqua, Pardot
  • Event Type contains ‘Click’
  1. Paid Programs

Will show up as Paid Programs channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • Campaign Type contains ‘Syndication’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Lead Gen’
  • Campaign Name contains ‘Demand Gen Report’
  • Campaign Name contains ‘Madison’
  • Campaign Name contains ‘Tech Target’
  • Campaign Name contains ‘IDG’
  1. Outbound Sales

Will show up as Outbound Sales channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • Event Class contains ‘Inbound Sales’
    • If SF task subject contains ‘RE:’
    • If SF task subject contains ‘[Outreach] [Email] [In]’
    • If SF task type contains ‘Meeting’
  1. Paid Search

Will show up as Paid Search channel if ANY of the below conditions are met: 

  • UTM Medium contains ‘PPC’
  • UTM Source contains ‘PPC’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘PPC’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Paid Search’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Paid Search’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Paid Search’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘CPC’
  • UTM Source contains ‘CPC’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘CPC’
  1. Paid Social

Will show up as Paid Social channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • UTM Medium contains ‘Paid Social’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Paid Social’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Paid Social’
  1. Display Ads

Will show up as Display Ads channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • UTM Medium contains ‘Ad’ and UTM Medium does not contain ‘Download’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Ad’ and UTM Source does not contain ‘Download’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Download’ 
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Display’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Display’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Display’
  1. Social

Will show up as a Social channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • UTM Medium contains ‘Twitter’
  • UTM Source contains ‘Twitter’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Twitter’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘LinkedIn’
  • UTM Source contains ‘LinkedIn’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘LinkedIn’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Facebook’
  • UTM Source contains  ‘Facebook’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Facebook’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Reddit’
  • UTM Medium contains ‘Social’
  1. Organic

Will show up as an Organic channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • Page Referrer is not blank
  1. Offline

Will show up as an Offline channel if ANY of the below conditions are met:

  • Campaign Type contains ‘Event’
  • Campaign Type contains ‘Tradeshow’
  1. Direct

If none of the criteria for the other channels above is met, will be bucketed to the ‘Direct’ channel
