Customization Made Easy: Introducing Dashboard Widget Templates
We are thrilled to announce a significant enhancement to the CaliberMind Widget Library. We know that our most powerful, high-impact widgets—often driven by sophisticated SQL—can be daunting to replicate from scratch. To empower our users to build more tailored reporting, we are introducing Clonable Widget Templates.
This update bridges the gap between out-of-the-box convenience and bespoke data storytelling, allowing you to leverage our engineering team’s logic while tailoring it to your specific business requirements.
What’s New and Why It Matters
- Clonable “Starter” Widgets
- The Change: We’ve added specialized templates to the library that serve as blueprints for complex reporting. These are “Locked” to preserve the original logic but are fully clonable.
- The Value: You no longer have to start with a blank canvas for advanced attribution or engagement visualizations. Use our best-practice logic as your foundation.
- In-Code Documentation & Guidance
- The Change: Once a template is cloned, the SQL editor now features embedded notes and comments specifically designed to guide you through the customization process.
- The Value: Even if you aren’t a SQL expert, our “In-SQL” notes highlight exactly which lines need your input, reducing the risk of errors and speeding up your time-to-insight.
- Streamlined Organization
- The Change: After cloning, you can immediately rename your widget and assign a Sub-Category.
- The Value: Keep your library organized and ensure your team can easily locate the specific versions of widgets tailored to their unique KPIs.
How to Get Started
Ready to build your next custom dashboard? Follow these steps:
- Find a Template: In the Widget Library, type “Template” into the search field or use the filter to view available options.
- Clone it: Click on the widget name or the three-dot menu. Since these are master templates, you will be prompted to Clone the widget to make it your own.
- Customize the Logic: Open your cloned version and navigate to the Editor page. Review the embedded notes within the SQL to identify which variables (such as specific Group by options) need to be updated.
- Preview & Save: Hit the Preview button to see your default view, then click Save to add it to your dashboard.
Pro Tip: If you run into any complexity while tweaking the SQL, our Customer Success team is standing by to help you refine your logic and ensure your dashboards are delivering maximum value.
