What it is

An Inbound – Orphan Campaign Member is a CaliberMind-generated event that represents a Salesforce Campaign identified as the Primary Campaign Source on an Opportunity when no corresponding Campaign Member touch exists in the underlying data.

Many sales teams designate a Primary Campaign Source when creating an Opportunity, indicating which campaign they believe drove it. In some cases that campaign has no recorded Campaign Member activity for the associated contacts. Without an event to represent it, the campaign cannot receive attribution credit in any model.

The Inbound – Orphan Campaign Member event fills that gap, allowing the designated Primary Campaign Source to participate in attribution alongside recorded touches.

When it is created

CaliberMind creates one when all of the following are true:

  • An Opportunity has a Primary Campaign Source populated
  • No Campaign Member record exists linking the Opportunity’s associated contacts to that campaign

How it appears

These events carry an Event Class of Inbound - Orphan Campaign Member and appear on your event timelines (cm_event table) for use in attribution models.

The event_datetime of these events are one second before the opp_create_datetime of the corresponding opportunity. They are associated with the account_id of the opportunity, and they are not associated to any person.

How they are used

These touches exist for attribution only. They are subject to the same lookback windows and eligibility rules as any other touch. They do not appear on buyer journeys.
